Fidelity Index
The Fidelity Index is used to measure how closely a light source matches its reference source, as described in the CRI method. Using the TM-30-15 method, the index is scaled from 0 to 100 and employs 99 color evaluation samples. The use of 99 color samples, rather than just eight, provides a more statistically significant and reliable indicator of color rendering accuracy. The 99 samples used in the TM-30 method are logarithmically selected from the 105,000 colors visible to the human eye.
Through numerical analysis, the TM-30-15 method derives an evaluation that includes the following two parameters:
● Rf (where f represents fidelity, specifically color fidelity) refers to the average color reproduction fidelity value of all 99 CES samples, with a maximum value of 100.
● Rg (where g represents gamut, color expansion) is used to evaluate the saturation of color; the obtained value may fluctuate below (color desaturation, as low as 60) or above (color oversaturation, as high as 140) the ideal value of 100.
