Color Rendering Index
The color rendering index (CRI) refers to the ability of an artificial light source to reveal the true colors of an object, as compared to the color of the same object under daylight, which serves as the reference standard. Its symbol is Ra, which represents the average value of the color rendering indices of the 1st to 8th standard color samples specified by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). This is also referred to as the general color rendering index.
In addition, the CIE has also specified the color rendering indices for the 9th to 15th standard color samples, known as the special color rendering indices, denoted by the symbol Ri. Furthermore, the average value of the color rendering indices for the 1st to 15th standard color samples is also referred to as the color rendering index, denoted by the symbol Re.
